Tasty Tuesday - Terralina Crafted Italian
Terralina is a brand new Italian restaurant in Disney Springs located in what was previously Portobello's, next to Paddlefish. I visited here one day after opening day and was quite impressed with the food. This was especially impressive since many restaurants struggle during opening week. We had a terrific waiter, delicious food and a splendid atmosphere which made for an overall wonderful experience.
The Terralina Menu hosts some of the traditional italian recipes you come to expect from an Italian restaurant, Pizza, Pasta and Roasted chicken, but it also hosts dishes you don't see everywhere , parmesan burger, swordfish pepperonatta and slow-roasted beef short rib. There are varied dishes for both kids and adults on the regular menu. They also have a separate kids menu that features the norm for kids meals.
Lunch and Dinner both include Ciabatta bread service with a pickled vegetable accompaniment that is so good I wish they had an appetizer of just the pickled vegetables. The bread was fresh, warm and delicious. I did wish they give you some butter and/or olive oil along with the vegetables, because my partner kept eating the vegetables before i could stick them on my bread. I love bread (who doesn't) and Ciabatta bread specifically and this is one of my favorites, especially when you consider its included with lunch and dinner. Even if you don't like bread ask for the vegetable accompaniment, because it is awesome.
I had the Crispy Parmesan Burger which is Ground Chuck and Brisket, Arugula, Tomato, Pickled Fennel, Parmesan Crisp, Pesto Aïoli, Toasted Ciabatta Bun, House-made Pecorino-Truffle Potato Chips, and House-made Garlic Pickles. Overall it was pretty good, but mozzarella would have been a better option.
I love the attempt at truffle fries, but you can't taste the truffle at all. You need truffle oil for the best fries, and Terralina uses truffle salt which lacks the intensity of the truffle flavor. In addition, the fries could use some rosemary as well. The garlic pickles were delicious and paired well with the burger.
My partner had the calzone which was filled with Roasted Pork, Sweet Peppers, Spinach, fresh Mozzarella and Goat Cheese. It was awesome. The crust was crispy on the outside, but still nice and doughy on the inside, with wonderful flavor and texture. The filling was ample but not so much that the calzone was bursting at the seams. It would be a great lunch time meal, late night snack, or an great at dinner with a nice salad.
Their dessert selection was pretty good, but not having a cannoli available just seems wrong to me. I was really feeling a cannoli after dinner and had to go to my neighborhood Publix to get one (which actually makes delicious cannoli).
Overall the experience, food and service were very good and I will definitely eat here again.
