Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2017
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) is a special event that can be enjoyed by adults and children. MNSSHP starts at 7:00 pm and lasts till midnight from August to the end of October. Admission for the special event begins at 4:00 pm assuming you do not have a regular park ticket. Either at the park entrance or locations around the park, MNSSHP guests receive a special wristband indicating attendance to the party as well as a party map and a bag with candy to start the day. Special characters for 'Meet and Greets' do appear at their locations early but only guest with the MNSSHP wristband can participate.
I found MNSSHP to be fantastic party for the whole family!!! It was definitely worth the extra money even if you don't meet with the special characters. Tickets range from ~$70-$120 increasing in price as the season progresses. The entertainments, treats, attractions, reservations and cast all make it worth while. The highlight of the evening is the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and the Mickey's "Boo-To-You" Halloween Parade!!
Most of the main attraction were open for the party. The wait times for the attractions was minimal since the majority of people were waiting to meet characters such as Jack and Sally, Moana, and the Fab Five gang in their Halloween costumes. The only attraction that had a wait was the Seven Dwarfs Mine train but after the shows started even that line dwindled down.
There is a lot of quick service open during the party and three table service restaurants including Be Our Guest, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Crystal Palace. I would not recommend doing a table service once the party starts since that will eat up a lot of the party time. If you can get a reservation from 4-5:30 that would be ideal so you are finished before the party starts. Once the party gets going if you get hungry you can always try some of their specialty food for MNSSHP.
There are a lot of 'Trick or Treat' locations all over the park for kids and adults to visit. This is some of the best 'Trick or Treating' I have had since adults are also encouraged to participate. The cast members were giving out big handfuls of candy to guests and sometimes there were multiple stops in each location. The candy is a nice variety from Mars candy company.
Allergy Friendly treat offerings are also available.
The entertainment at MNSSHP is probably the best that is offered at Disney World. The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular was fun and whimsical. Seeing the Sanderson Sisters come alive with all their villainous partners was great since most of the Disney villains are only out during Halloween. They had songs by the Shadowman, Maleficent, and Oogie Boogie Man. The Sanderson sisters even cast a spell on the guests which made the whole crowd cheer!
Side Note: some young children in the crowd were frightened by the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular so make sure you know what your children are comfortable with.
Mickey's "Boo-To-You" Halloween Parade is my favorite Disney parade. Usually the characters are the main focus but in this parade the cast really comes to play as grave diggers, zombie dancers and a skeleton band. They also have completely different floats than any of the other parades including Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion. The Headless Horseman makes an appearance at the start of the parade.
Happy Hallowishes Fireworks is the only let down for me. The majority of the people probably love this part of the night since it is the only way to see Wishes anymore. In my opinion, Happy Hallowishes Fireworks could use some improvements with some projections and overall story telling during the show. I do enjoy it more than the old normal Wishes. Before this show you can catch both the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and the Mickey's "Boo-To-You" Halloween Parade so if you need to leave because of your little monsters you have already caught the best shows of the night.
Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball is a rocking dance party with Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc. It goes on for the length of the party so get ready to jam to songs for all ages..It is a great break from 'Trick or Treating'
The Special Disney Character Appearances are a very special treat. If you are willing, the lines are shortest during the shows and after Happy Hallowishes Fireworks. Some of the most popular characters such as Moana and Jack and Sally appeared to have the longest lines. But I enjoyed seeing the Fab Five in their Halloween costumes and the rare characters such as Moana and all the Seven Dwarfs.
The Magical Shots from photopass photographers are fantastic and usually don't have a long line.Merchandise and Specialty Food
